Everton Football Club formed in 1878 and their home ground, Goodison Park, is based in Liverpool. The ground is nicknamed the 'Grand Old Lady' and it is one of the world's first 'purpose-built football grounds'. Everton FC is otherwise known as 'The Blues', 'The Toffees' or 'The People's Club'. Their current manager is David Moyes, who was appointed on 15th March 2002.
Everton FC hasn't yet won the Premier League, but they did win the old First Division on nine separate occasions and were runners up of the same league almost as many times throughout their history. Everton has played top-flight football for a record 109 seasons and their fans are known in the football world as 'Evertonians'.
Being based in Walton, Liverpool, their arch rivals are Liverpool FC and when the fixture is played against these two giants, the contest is referred to as the Merseyside Derby. Everton once had a player called Dixie Dean who set a record for scoring 60 league goals back in the 1927/28 season.
The club has won plenty of silverware throughout its long history. For example they won the old First Division on ten separate occasions, the European Cup Winners Cup and the Football League Cup, plus they have won the FA Cup five times. Everton's home colours are royal blue and white and they are currently sponsored by Chang.
