Arsenal Football Club formed in 1886 and their home ground, the Emirates Stadium, is based in Holloway, London. Before this, Arsenal played their home games at Highbury. Arsenal FC are otherwise known as the 'Gooners' and their current manager is Arsène Wenger, who was appointed on the 1st October, 1996.
Arsenal FC won the Premier League in the 1997/98 season. They also won the title in the 2000/01 season and in the 2003/04 season and have finished in second place, as runner's up, on five separate occasions. Arsenal is one of the most successful clubs in English football.
Being a North London Club, their main rivals are Tottenham Hotspur and the match played between these two clubs is known as the North London Derby. In association club level football, Arsenal is actually the fourth most valuable club in the world and it has been valued at $1.3 billion.
The club has won the FA Cup on ten separate occasions, as well as the League Cup, the European Cup Winners' Cup and the FA Community Shield. Arsenal's home colours are generally white shorts and bright red shirts that have white sleeves. The kit is manufactured by Nike and their main club sponsor is Emirates.
